FAQ's

Q: How much does a new roof cost?

A: Each roof is unique and has many variables such pitch, material selection, how many angles, and accessibility and other unforeseen things. The best way to get an accurate quote is to set up an appointment for a free estimate and walk through with a roofing professional.

Q: How long does a roof last?

A:

This all depends on a few factors:

1.) What type of roof do you have?

2.) How much of the roof faces in the south direction?

3.) Are there multiple layers?

4.) Has there been any maintenance done with the roof?

Though there can be many differrent situations for any number of roofs here are some general ideas.

Asphalt shingles/composition roofing: 17 - 22 years for 20 yr 3 Tab. For the newer architectural ahingles, 22 - 27 years.

Wood Shakes: 15 - 18 years for medium thicknesses. For Heavy thicknesses 20+/-years.

Hot Asphalt roofs: 15 - 20 for torch down membranes. For hot mopped systems 20 - 25 years if regularly maintained.

Metal: Is a lifetime product but needs maintenance. Exposed fasteners and silicone need to be checked regularly.

Hopefully this gives you afew ideas. It is recommended to have a roofing professional inspect your individual roof to see how it is performing and see how much life it has remaining.

Q: How long does it take to do a re-roof job?

A: The average house is about 3 to 4 days.

Q: Can we the leave the home while you do the work?

A: Yes, some people prefer to take a vacation.

Q: Do you do roof  work year round?

A: Yes we do, weather permitting. We can install the roof when it is wet, but we cannot tear off if it is raining. Repairs and maintenance can be done at most times of the year.

Q: When is the best time to do my roof?

A: The months between April and October are of course best. However, roofing in the Rogue Valley can be year round.

Q: What type of roof is best for my home?

A: First ask yourself these questions:
  • How long do you plan living in your home? If you plan on moving within 3-7 years you many not need a new roof or roof restoration. A roof repair might be all you will need.
  • Are you planning on selling your home? 40% of curb appeal is the roof of the home. We can help you choose the type of roof that will give you the best curb appeal and add resell value to your home.
  • Is your new roof an investment? What may look good to you may not be the most attractive to another. We offer lifetime permanent roofing solutions depending on how long you plan on staying in your home.

Q: What if I see streaks or spots of light in my attic?

A: If you can see light this can be a serious issue. However not all light spots will leak. This typically means that the shake underlayment is split and your "protection" is damaged. You should have your roof looked at by a professional.
